AMERICAN GIGOLO

Group shoot based on the 80's film American Gigolo.
MUA: Hannah Ellen
Photographer: Laura Oliver

FINAL IMAGES

These are our chosen seven images. I absolutely love them, I think they work, I love that we kept it simple because it gives it more impact. Chosing not to include the mannequin was a good choice, as it would have over-crowded the image.

SHOOT PREPARATION- MAKE UP

Ashleigh and I did the hair and make-up ourselves, it turned out we are not so bad at it!
I also french -platted Lucy's hair for the back shot, to make it look organic and earthy, the idea came from one of the make-up photos.

This is our final look.

SHOOT PREPARATION- JEWELLERY

Our chosen jewellery for the shoot, these photos were to help Ashleigh and I decide how to style the pieces on Lucy before she got there. More time to shoot then. Ashleigh and I also made three crowns, She made the dark brown jesus-looking one, and I made the very light grey vertical one and the brown one with twigs sticking upwards.

OUR MODEL

Lucy Caswell, Moira's friend. She is perfect for what we want to create, her hair will look amazing with a crown made out of twigs, and as she is already pale, she will not need a lot of foundation, making it easier to promote that natural look.

MAKE-UP

Before going into the photoshoot I had a look at what sort of make-up we could use on our model. I had a look at Topshop Unique A/W 2010 because they did a very tribal/ earthy show, And as I had seen it before I remembered that the make-up for it was close to what I wanted to create for our photoshoot.
Ideas from the chosen images above:
- Pale complexion.
- Dark, golden lips, maybe using glod eye shadow.
- Bronzed cheekbones.
- Bright orange eyes.
- Light brown mascara.
- White circles around the root of the hair and top of forehead.
- Maroon nails.

USE RE-USE RECYCLE

OH! I really have to use twigs in our photoshoot. Maybe like in the above magazine, make crowns out of different types of woods...

APACHE

Just because it looks really cool to use leaves as masks and head bands.

BACK TO NATURE

This was just a little image to see if we could use a location. But unlike this image England isn't that sunny... TBC...

PRIMARY ROOTS

Inspirations for using wood textures and actual wood. Again it is very organic and my favourite thing about this photoshoot is the minimal use of clothes. Maybe we should do something only using one kind of item. Maybe it should be jewellery, made out of wood...

PAPER

The prints from these images remind me of African fabrics, but why I chose those perticular photos is because of how the hair is tied up using thick string. It creates a very organic mood. Also editing the images by super-imposing newspaper is also another way to use recycling in a very fashionable way.

VIVIENNE

This was a magazine edition dedicated to Vivenne Westwood, and this was a shoot about her then new collection all about being eco-warriors. She created a whole line with recycled waste and clothes. This gave me ideas of how to style the photoshoot in a eco-friendly way, using natural materials...

FOR THE EARTH

This is a photoshoot I found in Above Magazine. Its about Elettra Wiedemann, Isabella Rossellini's daughter. It spoke about the work she did in Africa.
I love these photos. They represent the environment and even the four elements if you look closely. Ashleigh spoke about using the four elements as an idea for our photos, as matches represent fire. I thought we could take some ideas from this article and turn it into our own, like the crown out of twigs could be used to represent fire.
It could also be about using what matches are made from, wood.

EARTH WIND FIRE AND WATER

Ashleigh and I had a chat about other ideas. And she came up with the earth, wind, fire and water theme, it came from what the matches are made out of (wood) and also what it creates when it is lit. I love this idea a lot! it also gives us a lot more chance to do some interesting styling.
